Why Canada? Why Now?
Aaron Melanson aka BBOY APLUS has been breakdancing since 1998 and has become one of the best in Western CANADA. He began missions with YWAM through GX International in 2003 and has been involved in 12 outreaches. He completed his DTS lecture phase in 2008 at Eagle’s Nest Ranch in Medicine Hat and his outreach in Brazil with a GX DTS in 2009. He has been a Breakdance captain on outreaches in 2008 and 2009 and co-lead I.W.T -Church Based Outreach in Korea 2009.
Kendra Melanson aka BGIRL QUEST began dancing at the age of 3 and started breakdancing in 2001. She bagan missions with YWAM through Gx International in August 2002 and has been involved with 15 outreaches. In 2005 she completed her first DTS in Kansas City Missouri. Her outreach was IWT Texas 2006. She became Gx Program Director in 2005-2006. She Participated in the 2008 Eagle’s Nest Ranch YWAM DTS lecture phase and staffed the 2009 GX Brazil DTS.
In 2006, Aaron and Kendra Melanson married. God joined us together for the purpose of reaching out with the Gospel. In 2007 we began missions with Gx International as a married couple part time. March 2007 the Lord spoke to us about a need for GX in Canada. In 2008 we began full time missions work with GX International. We have been released by Bill lanterman Director of GX International to begin a process of developing a GX Canada Team. We would like to begin building foundation for GX Canada ministry in 2010 by forming staff and team members and together envision for future outreaches. We have served for many years as GX International and have felt the Call to go to all Nations. In 2007, we felt the Lord begin to speak to us about a vision for GX Canada. Being sent out of our home country for many years we see the need for the ministry of GX to be present in our own Nation. It is time to Give CANADA a Choice.
The Vision:
GX CANADA is young men and women released in aggressive evangelism in the Nation of Canada using the elements of Urban Street Culture. These elements mainly include Breakdance,Turntablism, Skateboarding, Various forms of Dance including Hip Hop Dance, and BMXing and are constantly evolving as culture evolves to remain relevant to today’s youth.
We see youth rising up to reach this generation as GX Canada that are:
1. Founded by the Word of God (“How does a young man keep his way pure? by living according to your word.” Psalm 119:9)
2. Empowered by faith, prayer and their personal relationship with the Lord (“Without Faith it is impossible to please God” Hebrews 11:6, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength” Mark 12:30)
3. Inspired by the Holy Spirit to preach the Gospel using relevant ways (“Love your neighbour as yourself” Mark 12:31;” But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom my Father will send in my Name, will teach you all things and will remind you of all I have said to you” John 14:26).
People that would like to give up their time to serve God with their gifts and reach excellence. GX Canada is a training HUB where Breakdancers and Dancers can be trained to be released in ministry. Seeking Intimacy in Urgency for God that moves them to Interceed and get fueled to be SENT OUT.
The Plan:
TRAIN, SERVE and SEND out teams of Breakdancers, Dancers, Skateboarders etc. throughout all of Canada. Our primary mandate is to preach the Gospel (“Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to all Creation” Mark 16:15). GX Canada will give young men and women with various Urban Culture talents the opportunity to spread the Gospel in Canada. We will train basic foundation breaking bad habits through the Program called PRESSURE POINT (see “TRAINING” for more info). We will train a School Assembly Program where we will share our personal stories of what God has helped us conquer in life mixed with dance, a freestyle session and skate sessions. We will also train a 1 hour Main Stage Program that will present the Gospel through 5-7 dance pieces and 2-3 skate sessions. Physical training is important, although we will also place a heavy focus on Intimacy with God by fueling ourselves in prayer and worship. What better way then in a prayer house. GX CANADA will TRAIN while keeping our eyes focused on Jesus as our source by connecting with the Global Prayer House (www.globalprayerhouse.com). The Lord said “My house shall be called a house of prayer for all Nations” Isaiah 56:7
GX CANADA will SERVE within many areas including but not limited to Churches, Street Corners, Breakdance Events and Schools to promote larger shows where the Gospel will be preached.
We we SEND OUT people to be released to use the tools they are trained in to glorify God. We will serve within the YWAM value system and will hold in value ministry relationships with YWAM Eagle’s Nest ranch, I.W.T. and I.W.T Canada; serving to know God and make Him known through the preaching of the Gospel. GX Canada will be based out of medicine Hat and work in close relationship with GX International and feed into the GX International ministry to insure a Canadian presence to remain in the GX International team.
